Corsicana Oil Field,the first major oil discovery inTexas.

CORSICANA POWELL FIELD, NAVARRO COUNTY, TEXAS
The first major oil discovery in Texas is still producing new wells!
Using modern oil well drilling technology, oil men today are now able to reap the
benefits of the effort of our early Texas oil pioneers..

Here are examples of some recent completions:


  1. Tuleta Energy Partners, LLC has completed a new well in the Powell Field. The well is known as the Cerf Well No. 1 and is located two miles southwest of Midland. The well flowed with 107 barrels of crude per day on a 38/64-inch choke. Depth is 3,300 feet.
  2. Texas M.O.R. drilled McKinney 3B and 4B in Corsicana Field, southeast of Corsicana No. 3B hit 1,676 feet and flowed with 16 barrels of crude on open choke. No. 4B hit 1,650 feet and flowed with 12 barrels of crude on open choke. Production is on the McKinney lease in Shallow(Pecan Gap)
  3. The Humphries Well No. 2 has been completed by Tuleta Energy Partners 6.5 miles southeast of Corsicana in the Corsicana Field with a depth of 3,300 feet. The well was gauged on a 24/64-inch choke and flowed with 80 barrels of crude per day. Production is in the Shallow formation.
  4. Juna Operating drilled the L.B. Cunningham Unit 1 Well No. 2 to 4,149 feet six miles southeast of Corsicana in the Powell Field. The well flowed with 34 barrels of crude per day on a 7/64-inch choke.
  5. The Hulan Yarber (Smackover) Unit Well No. 1 has been completed by O'Ryan Oil and Gas in the Tynes Field. This well flowed with 454 barrels of crude per day on a 10/64-inch choke. The well is four miles northeast of Powell with a depth of 9,700 feet. Production is in the Smackover formation.
  6. The Aztec-Jackson North 1 Well No. 1 and the Aztec-Jackson North 2 Well No. 2 were completed in the Corsicana Field by Resaca Resources. The No. 1 hit 1,515 feet, five miles southwest of Kerens. On a 64/64-inch choke the well flowed with six barrels of crude. The No. 2 hit 1,513 feet, five miles southwest of Kerens. On a 64/64-inch choke the well flowed with 14 barrels of crude. Production is in the Shallow.
